Design

Palettes group compatible plants into a coherent scheme. Projects take you through the practical work that makes a garden more resilient.

Drought-ready sunny border

Silver, violet and gold; loose, gravelly and Mediterranean in feel.

Full sun, free-draining soil, little or no irrigation after establishment.

Wildlife garden with year-round food and shelter

Layered and informal: blossom, berries, seedheads and evergreen cover.

Sun to part shade, average soil, moderate space.

Rain-garden planting

Lush and upright, designed for a shallow basin that floods then drains.

Basin that holds water for up to 48 hours; sun to part shade.

Shaded resilient garden

Green textures and quiet detail for dry shade under trees or walls.

Shade to part shade, average to dry soil, root competition tolerated.

Low-maintenance container garden

Evergreen, aromatic and compact — suited to balconies and courtyards.

Sun, containers with free-draining mix, occasional deep watering.

Drought-ready garden

Plants survive dry spells with far less watering and less summer loss.

easy · A weekend, plus planting time · Low to medium cost · Best in autumn or early spring, before heat arrives

Rain-resilient garden

Rainfall soaks in where it falls instead of running off or standing.

moderate · One to two weekends · Medium cost · Dig in a dry spell; plant in autumn or spring

Wildlife year-round plan

Continuous food, water, shelter and breeding habitat across the seasons.

easy · Ongoing across a season · Low cost · Start any time; plant shrubs in the dormant season

What to do next

A project is easier to finish when it sits inside your wider plan.

Demonstration data

These figures come from the demonstration dataset kept for testing and as a fallback when the measured climate service is unavailable. They are representative, not observed, and are never presented as validated live data.
